Sgt Creed was a decorated career solider who gave his life for his country and left a proud family behind, including son Barry and daughter Alison. He served in WWII, Korea and in Vietnam, earning many awards and decorations including the Combat Infantry Badge with two stars pictured above. Foremost in his decorations is the Bronz Star for Valor with two Oak Leaf Clusters and The Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster. Other medals include the Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal, the Europe-Africa-Middle East Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, the WWII Occupation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic Of Korea Service Medal, the RVN Gallantry Cross, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Sgt Creed was serving in the Delta Company Weapons Platoon when he died at LZ Albany in the Ia Drang Valley.
